Dr. Hamidreza Shirzadfar

I am currently an Assistant Professor in the Department of Biomedical Engineering and Director of Technology and Industry Relations at Ashrafi Esfahani University. I was the Dean of Engineering and Technology Faculty from 2023 till 2025 and also was the Head of Electrical and Biomedical Engineering Group from 2021 till 2023 at Shahid Ashrafi Esfahani University. My previous professional experience includes Dean of the Faculty of Electrical and Biomedical Engineering and Head of Biomedical Engineering Department at several Universities in Iran. I was a scientific scholar representative between Ukrainian and French Universities for a joint project and science development from 2011 till 2014. I completed my Ph.D. in Biomedical Engineering at University of Lorraine (Nancy, France) in a collaboration with Kanazawa University (Japan) in 2014.

Bioengineering; Biosensors; Bioelectromagnetism; Magnetic micro & nanoparticles; Magnetic Resonance Imaging; Telemedicine; Bio-MEMS; Hyperthermia treatment; Biothreat and Pathogen Detection; Drug Delivery.

I got my PhD in Biomedical engineering in 2014 from Université de Lorraine, France, in a collaboration with Kanazawa University in Japan. Actually, I am Dean Faculty of Engineering and Technology and assistant professor in the department of Electrical and Biomedical Engineering at Ashrafi Esfahani University in Iran.

During my PhD’s thesis, I was able to develop, design and characterize bio-magnetic sensors based on the Giant Magnetoresistance (GMR) effect to determine the magnetic liquid’s magnetic properties such as susceptibility (χ), relative permeability (χr) and estimate accuracy the weight density (Dw) of ferrofluids in low concentrations under weak magnetic field (micro & nano Tesla). Magnetic fluid plays very important roles in various domains particularly in medicine such as to treat cancer (hyperthermia treatment), arthritis, to create a detailed picture of internal organs in magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), magnetic cell separation and etc. Moreover, these sensors have sufficient capability to detect the magnetic marker for separation of bacteria for example E-coli O157:H7 from contaminated environments. I have also worked and designed interdigital sensors to investigate dielectric characterization and conductive properties of biological materials by impedance spectroscopy. I have accomplished research in aforementioned topics, presented my research work in many national and international conferences and published my work in peer-reviewed journals.
